Bruce's Plans

Although the Jackson & Burke Railroad is a small narrow gauge line, it has big ambitions. The freight generates a lot of revenue, but the railroad feels that there is an untapped opportunity for first class travel through the mountains of the western Carolinas.   New resorts are opening up and not only the wealthy needs transporation. More jobs mean lots of travel on the train!

The first car will be an express refrigerator - a 40 foot kit from Phil's Narrow Gauge. Beyond that, the emphasis will be on first class travel, though I will build a coach for the resort workers!    Of course we’ll have a combine, as just a plain baggage car seems too mundane. It will also provide extra seating capacity when needed for second class passengers.

The pride of the fleet will be the parlour car which will carry the wealthy to their destination.  For those who prefer to leave in the evening and arrive early the next day, I’ll have a single sleeper car added to the consist.  I’ll typically have a dining car on all my trains.
